Gratitude & Happiness

“Every day is an opportunity to be happy.”

We wake up, go about our day, and go to sleep. We get sad, we get angry, we get happy, excited, etc. But why be angry, why be sad? I’ve been going through a lot these past few months myself, so I know where you are. I’ve lost motivation, yes me, but we all do because we’re all human. I’ve gotten that motivation back though, I need to be grateful, happy, confident, thankful, and not complain. Try to find the positives in everything. Nothing and nobody is meant to hold you back or bring you down. God gives us these challenges to only build us up, to make us stronger. We need to grow, it’s a part of life! We need to go about our days with grace, being happy, being grateful, being confident.

What are you grateful about? We want to know 5 things you are grateful for!

I’m grateful for…
~ My Family
~ My Boyfriend
~ My Dog
~ My Health
~ God!

Now we have a little challenge for you!

Every night and every morning for the next week, write ONE thing you are grateful for. So in seven days, you should have 14 items on your list!! Then take a look at that list, read it every day, and tell God you are thankful that He has given you all those things on your “Grateful List”!! Add to that list and watch it grow!

There’s always something to be happy about, something to be grateful about. Start today because a minute wasted of being angry or sad is a minute that you’ll never get back to be happy!

Let us know how that list is coming along in the Wholeful Soul Sisters space!

~ Kailee

Today Is YOUR Day!

HAPPY 2018!!! Are you ready to make this year YOUR YEAR?!

Did you know, it’s NEVER to late to be the best that YOU can be?! Well, it’s not! It’s never too late!

Now what am I talking about?

I want YOU to be the best that you can be! We want you to be healthy, confident, and positive. We want you to life and lead that all around Healthy Soul 360 lifestyle!

Now being healthy doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be as skinny as a toothpick. In fact, you don’t have to be skinny. We believe there are FOUR KEY INGREDIENTS to be healthy. Being healthy will also bring positivity and confidence.

1. Eat Right. We don’t believe in fad diets, that’s for sure. We don’t believe in basically starving yourself to be healthy. That is definitely not the way to do it. There are so many health risks when you basically starve yourself. Be smart in the grocery store when buying food, DON’T buy junk food!! Try to buy healthy, organic, whole foods. Buy turkey instead of beef, buy Cheerios instead of Fruity Pebbles. If you have kids, definitely make sure you are feeding them healthy food, don’t let them have junk food all the time. Sure it’s ok to have junk food once in a while, but it’ll end up making you feel sluggish, trust me!

2. Exercise. Exercise is key. It is also the most wonderful, FREE antidepressant. I feel so much better after a workout, my mood is better, I’m happier, more energetic, I feel empowered, sexy, confident, and powerful. I feel like I can take on any challenge that is thrown my way after I workout. Now I’m not saying you have to get a gym membership, buy an expensive program, run miles on miles, or lift an insane amount of weights. You start slow. You build up to what you want to achieve. Even if it’s a brisk walk or a light jog, even yoga or pilates, just something to get your blood pumping and your heart rate up!!

3. Stay Hydrated. We can never stress this enough!! Buy a large reusable water bottle (check BPA and all those lovely ingredients!) and fill it up to the top! Now that’s how much water you have to drink EVERY SINGLE DAY!! Even tea is another wonderful drink that gets me through the day. Honestly, STAY AWAY from the caffeine!! Decaf and water is so much better.

4. Love Yourself. This can be difficult for some of us because we have this perfect image of what we want to look like, but then realize that we don’t look like that perfect image. We have these negative thoughts about how we look, how we dress, and that number on the scale. Let me ask you something. How can we expect to be positive when our minds are filled with such negativity? Be kind to yourself, be kind to others. Love yourself because you are beautiful and perfect the way you are!!

These may seem so simple, but they may actually be a lot more difficult for some people. We have people by our sides every day, cheering us on. Take these four simple key ingredients and live by it every day! Everything will fall into place!!

Don’t wait for tomorrow to seize the day. Why not start right now?! This is why Healthy Soul 360 is here! We want YOU to be the best that you can be!! We are here to encourage, inspire, and motivate you. WE can help YOU when you take that initiative and reach out to us, even to people surrounding you.

The choice must come from within!! Remember, TODAY is YOUR day!!!

Fitness App Favorites

Are you ready for 2018?!

Today, I wanted to take a few moments to talk about fitness apps to get you started off right in the New Year. There are so many apps available, but how do you know which are the best ones? Obviously, choose an app that you enjoy. I’ll be talking about how to choose a fitness app in a few days.

I personally use a few different apps to track my fitness and my nutrition. Here’s a list of them below, the low down, and why I love them!

I got a Fitbit for Christmas this past year and love it. It tracks my steps, can track my sleep, and can track my exercises. On the app, you can record what you eat and how much you drink. You can also join different challenges with your friends such as The Workweek Hustle. You get little friendly competitions going between you and your friends! You can also join communities to stay accountable. If you have a FitBit, you can join the Healthy Soul 360 Team HERE for more accountability. I’ll check in frequently to help you stay accountable! You can also add me by my email to help stay extra accountable on FitBit!

This is an app that automatically comes on my phone with any Samsung. It will track my steps, my workouts, my nutrition, my pulse, my stress, and give me different tips and reminders to get active. For it to track my steps, I don’t have to press any specific button, it automatically does it. What I like the most, it gives me notifications to get active throughout the day at different times of the day.

Charity Miles
This app is simply amazing! I honestly recommend this app the most! This app, you can join a team if you’d like and be a part of a bigger cause. This app tracks your miles whether you are running, walking, or biking AND you raise money for charity! A few charities that I run or walk for would be, Team For Kids, and the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. So how does this work? The concept is brilliant. A huge corporation such as Humana or Johnson&Johnson will sponsor you then donate $0.25 per every mile you complete. It may seem so small, but it helps so much. This is for a greater cause and I love giving back and helping in any way I can!

Lorna Jane
This app is fun. It gives you alerts and daily motivation every morning. When you track or log your workouts, it gives you so many options of what type of exercise it is. Then when you track your food, it will also give you recipes to make. I love the motivating and inspirational messages with this app!

These apps help me stay on track and help me get motivated and ready to workout. The apps that I use are great apps to track your fitness and nutrition. Comment on the post or join us in the Community discussion on Facebook HERE and let me know what apps you love to use!

Talk soon!

Disclosure: I am not affiliated with any of the companies or apps as mentioned above. I am not being paid to write about the apps, I am simply a fitness & health coach writing an honest review about the fitness apps that I personally use!

How to Beat the Winter Blues

We love winter, we hate winter, all of the above. Mixed emotions about winter.

Yes, winter is beautiful. I won’t lie about that! Filled with fresh fallen snow and snow days, wearing sweaters and fuzzy socks, sitting by the fireplace and drinking hot coco, snow ball fights and sleigh rides, long and quiet nights. It’s beautiful indeed.

Well, many of you, including myself, get the Winter Blues. Some days, you’re happy and motivated, while other days or most days during the winter, you feel down and lacking all sort of motivation.

1. Find something or someone inspiring and motivational. I love following inspiring and motivating people and groups online. For instance, I love Chalene Johnson, Lisa Bevere, Victoria Osteen, and Gabby Bernstein. They are amazing, inspiring, and motivating women! I would love to meet them one day!! Make sure you follow motivating and inspiring people and groups on any social media sites that you are on. Make sure you don’t follow any negative or degrading people or groups on social media. Doesn’t help at all. I also have to say that my mother and my boyfriend, as well as my grandparents and brother and friends, have been very supporting and encouraging of me in my life. Things like that, I believe, you need in your life. When you have that encouragement and support, then you have your motivation and inspiration.

2. Get up and move! Wake up early. Get off the electronics and walk around, go get some fresh air. I know here in New York, it’s a bit chilly, so not much outside walking for me lately with all this snow on the ground. What’s been helping me, is I’ve doing Yoga and Pilates. Very relaxing, yet you work hard! I’m typically sweating at the end of my workout!! I know the gym and DVD programs can be expensive, so simple at home body weight workouts are key to beat these winter blues.

3. Write a list and make goals. Write a list of everything that has to be done. Get a planner to keep organized. Planners and lists have become my life as a college student. I tend to remember the things I have to do, but making a list and seeing it physically actually puts things into a better perspective for me. Make goals and keep yourself accountable.

4. Read. Reading helps my mind relax. Amazon and Apple have plenty of free books, especially “self-help” books. Self-help books aren’t meant to be embarrassing when you tell people that you read those kinds of books. I’ve found some really good books, all for free on my Kindle, which make me open my eyes and think about things or simply relax. Honestly, writing in a journal helps me de-stress as well as talking. Just some things to keep in mind!

5. Eat healthy and sleep. I’ve always been a big fan of eating right, eating healthy. I’ve never been a person to support diets. As long as you are eating the right foods, drinking the right drinks, and eating whole grains, then it’ll not only help your internal health, but your overall mental wellbeing. Sleeping is another topic that I, myself, lack in that area at times. Something I’ve been getting better at lately. Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep in order to help beat these Winter Blues!

These tips are to, of course, inspire and motivate you to get out of that funk. I know winter can be tough. Finding motivation can be very difficult when you have the Winter Blues. I know, as a college student, you can’t risk being in that funk because then everything can get out of whack.

We’re all human, including myself. I’m someone on a mission and that’s to help everyone and to be the best person I can be. I may get so caught up, but then I have to take a step back and make sure my physical and mental health are in good condition. Life gets stressful, I get that. Winter can be that time of year, too, where we just want to be in bed watching movies all day. We don’t want to do a darn thing.

So I say, let’s beat these winter blues today!! Let’s start right away and get this feeling of being down and lacking motivation gone, gone, gone! I know I always stress it, but please feel free to reach out to me! Don’t hesitate to share this to friends and family if you know that they are facing the Winter Blues! Remember you’re not alone, none of us are alone!!

So wake up early. Do a workout, take a shower, grab a cup of tea, sit by the fireplace, and read a book!! Lastly, say goodbye to those Winter Blues!

5 Tips to Stick with your New Year's Resolutions

Time to stay on track and actually stick to your goals. Stay on track with your life, with your goals, with classes if you're a student, with your 2018 resolutions with these simple steps.

How do you do that?

  1. Write these goals down. Write them on sticky notes, write them as to-do lists or as reminders.
  2. Journal. Start journaling, it will help keep you focused. Designate one journal to your journey for your goals. It doesn’t matter if they’re long term or short term goals, just write about your journey.
  3. Watch your thoughts. Having negative thoughts can put a fear in us where we become crippled by fear. These negative thoughts bring us down. It doesn’t matter if you preach positivity, but you better be practicing it too!
  4. Surround yourself with supportive people. You may have some wild dreams and goals, but it shouldn’t hold you back. Find people who will support you, even ifyou’re an optimistic person like I am. You don’t necessarily have to be realistic!
  5. Are you passionate? Ask yourself that question. Are you passionate about the goals you have set for yourself? If you’re passionate about your goals, you won’t let anyone derail you.
  6. Believe in yourself! You got this!

I believe in you! It can get difficult at times to keep yourself motivated or inspired, trust me I know. You can do it though, put your mind to it, stay determined!

Come talk goals & intentions with me over in the Wholeful Soul Sisters tribe!
