Be Authentic, Darling

Let's talk Authenticity for a moment.

As a coach - a Holistic Lifestylist & Spiritual Life Coach - I've come across a few unauthentic people within the past few years of doing what I do... The copy cats. Oh yes. Like I'm talking people have copied me, word for word. They've copied my work, my words, my language. Right down to my 'About' page on my website.

And with this, with the copy cats, comes people attempting to one-up me.

And did that used to annoy the sh*t out of me. (Guilty)

I've learned that people who are truly authentic, truly themselves (unapologetically and uniquely themselves), those are the people who do amazing things and are pretty amazing people. Why? Because they're raw. Because they accept who they are. Because they love who they are. Because they get vulnerable. Because they are unapologetic about who they are.

I've learned that the people who are not authentically themselves, they copy. THEN, they try and try and try to compete. They try to one-up, trying to stand out the most in a conversation. AND people can see right through them. Because they either don't seem genuine or they simply seem silly.

Listen, I stand in my truth. I know who I am. I know what I bring to the table. And I don't have time to compete or one-up anyone. I literally don't have time for that. I honestly hope we all make it. I hope everyone I meet becomes successful in their own way, on their own terms of what success means to them.

So, the message? Accept who you are. Love who you are. Be unapologetically YOU. Because no one else is you. You are unique because God created only ONE of you!

Gratitude & Happiness

“Every day is an opportunity to be happy.”

We wake up, go about our day, and go to sleep. We get sad, we get angry, we get happy, excited, etc. But why be angry, why be sad? I’ve been going through a lot these past few months myself, so I know where you are. I’ve lost motivation, yes me, but we all do because we’re all human. I’ve gotten that motivation back though, I need to be grateful, happy, confident, thankful, and not complain. Try to find the positives in everything. Nothing and nobody is meant to hold you back or bring you down. God gives us these challenges to only build us up, to make us stronger. We need to grow, it’s a part of life! We need to go about our days with grace, being happy, being grateful, being confident.

What are you grateful about? We want to know 5 things you are grateful for!

I’m grateful for…
~ My Family
~ My Boyfriend
~ My Dog
~ My Health
~ God!

Now we have a little challenge for you!

Every night and every morning for the next week, write ONE thing you are grateful for. So in seven days, you should have 14 items on your list!! Then take a look at that list, read it every day, and tell God you are thankful that He has given you all those things on your “Grateful List”!! Add to that list and watch it grow!

There’s always something to be happy about, something to be grateful about. Start today because a minute wasted of being angry or sad is a minute that you’ll never get back to be happy!

Let us know how that list is coming along in the Wholeful Soul Sisters space!

Today Is YOUR Day!

HAPPY 2018!!! Are you ready to make this year YOUR YEAR?!

Did you know, it’s NEVER to late to be the best that YOU can be?! Well, it’s not! It’s never too late!

Now what am I talking about?

I want YOU to be the best that you can be! We want you to be healthy, confident, and positive. We want you to life and lead that all around Healthy Soul 360 lifestyle!

Now being healthy doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be as skinny as a toothpick. In fact, you don’t have to be skinny. We believe there are FOUR KEY INGREDIENTS to be healthy. Being healthy will also bring positivity and confidence.

1. Eat Right. We don’t believe in fad diets, that’s for sure. We don’t believe in basically starving yourself to be healthy. That is definitely not the way to do it. There are so many health risks when you basically starve yourself. Be smart in the grocery store when buying food, DON’T buy junk food!! Try to buy healthy, organic, whole foods. Buy turkey instead of beef, buy Cheerios instead of Fruity Pebbles. If you have kids, definitely make sure you are feeding them healthy food, don’t let them have junk food all the time. Sure it’s ok to have junk food once in a while, but it’ll end up making you feel sluggish, trust me!

2. Exercise. Exercise is key. It is also the most wonderful, FREE antidepressant. I feel so much better after a workout, my mood is better, I’m happier, more energetic, I feel empowered, sexy, confident, and powerful. I feel like I can take on any challenge that is thrown my way after I workout. Now I’m not saying you have to get a gym membership, buy an expensive program, run miles on miles, or lift an insane amount of weights. You start slow. You build up to what you want to achieve. Even if it’s a brisk walk or a light jog, even yoga or pilates, just something to get your blood pumping and your heart rate up!!

3. Stay Hydrated. We can never stress this enough!! Buy a large reusable water bottle (check BPA and all those lovely ingredients!) and fill it up to the top! Now that’s how much water you have to drink EVERY SINGLE DAY!! Even tea is another wonderful drink that gets me through the day. Honestly, STAY AWAY from the caffeine!! Decaf and water is so much better.

4. Love Yourself. This can be difficult for some of us because we have this perfect image of what we want to look like, but then realize that we don’t look like that perfect image. We have these negative thoughts about how we look, how we dress, and that number on the scale. Let me ask you something. How can we expect to be positive when our minds are filled with such negativity? Be kind to yourself, be kind to others. Love yourself because you are beautiful and perfect the way you are!!

These may seem so simple, but they may actually be a lot more difficult for some people. We have people by our sides every day, cheering us on. Take these four simple key ingredients and live by it every day! Everything will fall into place!!

Don’t wait for tomorrow to seize the day. Why not start right now?! This is why Healthy Soul 360 is here! We want YOU to be the best that you can be!! We are here to encourage, inspire, and motivate you. WE can help YOU when you take that initiative and reach out to us, even to people surrounding you.

The choice must come from within!! Remember, TODAY is YOUR day!!!

Join me for the New Year, New You Program!

Brighten Your Smile

Ever feel in a funk? Have days where you just want to lay in bed and watch movies all day? Ever have those days where you feel like the world is against you? Have those days where you just feel negative?

I think everyone has just one of those days every once in a while. It’s normal. It coexists with us being human! The thing is, we can’t get stuck there. I know I personally don’t like having those kinds of days. In all honesty, who does?!

Here are some simple ways to brighten your day, which in turn will brighten your smile!

1. Light a candle. Light your favorite candle, the wonderful aroma in your home will surely have a positive effect on you!

2. Grab a cup of tea and READ. Grab a good book, a hot cup of tea, and enjoy getting lost in a different world! Reading positive and uplifting books will definitely help and it will also give you a new perspective on things! (I’ll post a summer reading list, books that I’m reading this summer!)

3. Wake up early. Ok, I know, I have trouble getting up early. I’ve been wanting to sleep in, but I’m convincing myself to not hit the snooze button or turn my alarm off. I’m trying to set my alarm early in the morning so I can get up and not feel like I’ve wasted the whole day sleeping. Some days it may be needed, but trust me, it gets really difficult to get back in the habit of waking up early. Some even say to put your phone across the room before you go to bed so you are basically forced to wake up early by having to get out of bed to turn your alarm off.

4. Listen to some tunes. Listening to music, playing some inspirational music, country, or even the relaxation radio on Pandora helps me just chill out. Some days I like my music quiet, other days I love jamming out to it, but either way it makes me happy!!

5. Clean! This may sound crazy, but when you clean your room, dorm, apartment, or house it makes you feel better. When it makes you feel better, it makes you feel relaxed knowing that everything is in it’s place and organized. Knowing that everything is in it’s place, makes me so happy and helps me focus on other things at task such as checking in with all of you lovely followers, researching the latest, or working on assignments.

6. Meet with Friends. Being around other people, especially people who are positive and uplifting people will have a positive effect on you. Go for a walk, go shopping, do some errands, go for lunch, or simply have a movie night or game night!

7. Go For a Run!! Exercising is the absolute best way to brighten that smile of yours! Sweating and feeling that burn is key to feeling brighter. Exercising has been known to release different hormones to help you feel invincible, powerful, and sexy. So go get out there and RUN!

Why live life feeling negative? Using these tips will surely help you feel brighter every day!!

How to Beat the Winter Blues

We love winter, we hate winter, all of the above. Mixed emotions about winter.

Yes, winter is beautiful. I won’t lie about that! Filled with fresh fallen snow and snow days, wearing sweaters and fuzzy socks, sitting by the fireplace and drinking hot coco, snow ball fights and sleigh rides, long and quiet nights. It’s beautiful indeed.

Well, many of you, including myself, get the Winter Blues. Some days, you’re happy and motivated, while other days or most days during the winter, you feel down and lacking all sort of motivation.

1. Find something or someone inspiring and motivational. I love following inspiring and motivating people and groups online. For instance, I love Chalene Johnson, Lisa Bevere, Victoria Osteen, and Gabby Bernstein. They are amazing, inspiring, and motivating women! I would love to meet them one day!! Make sure you follow motivating and inspiring people and groups on any social media sites that you are on. Make sure you don’t follow any negative or degrading people or groups on social media. Doesn’t help at all. I also have to say that my mother and my boyfriend, as well as my grandparents and brother and friends, have been very supporting and encouraging of me in my life. Things like that, I believe, you need in your life. When you have that encouragement and support, then you have your motivation and inspiration.

2. Get up and move! Wake up early. Get off the electronics and walk around, go get some fresh air. I know here in New York, it’s a bit chilly, so not much outside walking for me lately with all this snow on the ground. What’s been helping me, is I’ve doing Yoga and Pilates. Very relaxing, yet you work hard! I’m typically sweating at the end of my workout!! I know the gym and DVD programs can be expensive, so simple at home body weight workouts are key to beat these winter blues.

3. Write a list and make goals. Write a list of everything that has to be done. Get a planner to keep organized. Planners and lists have become my life as a college student. I tend to remember the things I have to do, but making a list and seeing it physically actually puts things into a better perspective for me. Make goals and keep yourself accountable.

4. Read. Reading helps my mind relax. Amazon and Apple have plenty of free books, especially “self-help” books. Self-help books aren’t meant to be embarrassing when you tell people that you read those kinds of books. I’ve found some really good books, all for free on my Kindle, which make me open my eyes and think about things or simply relax. Honestly, writing in a journal helps me de-stress as well as talking. Just some things to keep in mind!

5. Eat healthy and sleep. I’ve always been a big fan of eating right, eating healthy. I’ve never been a person to support diets. As long as you are eating the right foods, drinking the right drinks, and eating whole grains, then it’ll not only help your internal health, but your overall mental wellbeing. Sleeping is another topic that I, myself, lack in that area at times. Something I’ve been getting better at lately. Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep in order to help beat these Winter Blues!

These tips are to, of course, inspire and motivate you to get out of that funk. I know winter can be tough. Finding motivation can be very difficult when you have the Winter Blues. I know, as a college student, you can’t risk being in that funk because then everything can get out of whack.

We’re all human, including myself. I’m someone on a mission and that’s to help everyone and to be the best person I can be. I may get so caught up, but then I have to take a step back and make sure my physical and mental health are in good condition. Life gets stressful, I get that. Winter can be that time of year, too, where we just want to be in bed watching movies all day. We don’t want to do a darn thing.

So I say, let’s beat these winter blues today!! Let’s start right away and get this feeling of being down and lacking motivation gone, gone, gone! I know I always stress it, but please feel free to reach out to me! Don’t hesitate to share this to friends and family if you know that they are facing the Winter Blues! Remember you’re not alone, none of us are alone!!

So wake up early. Do a workout, take a shower, grab a cup of tea, sit by the fireplace, and read a book!! Lastly, say goodbye to those Winter Blues!

Today I thought I’d write about something that’s a hard and sometimes a touchy subject. It’s something that has been heavy on my heart for a while now.

This is hard, it’s hard to forgive someone who has done something wrong to you, who hurt you. Trust me, I know. I know it all too well. I know what it’s like to feel so angry. I know what it’s like to feel helpless. I know what it’s like to feel stupid and dumb. I know what it’s like to feel degraded and inferior. I know what it’s like to hate and to hurt. But I also know what it’s like to feel loved, to feel smart, to feel equal, to feel helpful.

I have been hurt and lied to and so much more, especially what I just mentioned above. Someone who I should have been able to trust and love and count on, I couldn’t. Some people who are reading this who know me, you know what I’m talking about. But this person walked out of my life, granted that person was never there for me. I had always been so hurt and angry with this person that I felt numb over time. It’s better though because I don’t feel numb, angry, or sad. Yes, I may still be hurt, there were scars left behind that will never go away. But, I can honestly say that I have truly forgiven this person.

I wanted to give you all some advice and understanding on forgiveness. We, as a society, need to be more forgiving. I’m not saying forget because I certainly can’t forget what hurt was caused and the scars left behind, but to simply forgive. Whether it’s someone who hurt you, someone who could never be there for you, someone who walked out on you — whether it’s a parent, family member, friend, sibling, spouse, or yourself — forgive them for you, to give yourself peace, to release them from your mind.

Why should we forgive?
It releases us. Forgiving someone or something who has done something wrong against you doesn’t happen over night. Where it’s someone who attempts to compete with you or take your ideas, you get annoyed or angry; or if it’s someone who has caused a lot of pain to you, you feel hurt and angry and sad. Why? We often wonder “why me?” Why are you feeling like this, though? When you forgive, it releases us from those feeling and it releases those people from your emotions. Those people who cause us hurt and pain, they themselves are in pain. We need to always take a step back and wonder WHY someone could be acting the way they are.

Who should we forgive?
I think this one is pretty obvious. It could be a loved one, friend, or foe. It could even be yourself. Have you ever seen the movie or read the book “Tuesday’s With Morrie”? The movie was amazing, I have to buy the book though!! Morrie said something wonderful —

“Forgive everyone and everything right now before it’s too late.”

— It’s so true. It gives you a wonderful peace knowing that you have forgiven those who have done wrong against you. As my mother says, “don’t let them rent space in your head,” they’re not paying rent, so kick them out!

How do we forgive?  Forgive everyone every single day. This includes forgiving yourself. Tell yourself “I forgive and release _(insert name here)_. I pray for them to heal, but I pray for myself to heal and be free.” Telling this to yourself daily, maybe even a few times a day and out loud, it will give you peace. Welcome this peace, love and understanding into your life.

It’s taken me a quite a while to even begin to work on forgiving this particular person. I had come to the realization that even though I promised myself I would never have any kind of contact with this person, I cannot let this person control my emotions. I will not allow negativity into my life and being angry at someone is negativity. I've truly completely forgiven them, but I did it for me. I’m doing it to bring peace and light and love into my life. I have been surrounded by a few amazing friends, my amazing boyfriend, my wonderful loving mother, brother, and grandparents. That’s a key, surround yourself with love and positivity!

There is no specific time limit to your journey in forgiving or your journey in healing. My journey took 3 years and a childhood of hurt. Welcome forgiveness, love, light, and understanding into your life. So I’ll leave you with one word… FORGIVE… Take and do with it what you wish. You can continue to hold a grudge and continue to be intoxicated by hatred and anger and negativity, OR you can be overwhelmed with love and indeed forgiveness!!!

5 Tips to Stick with your New Year's Resolutions

Time to stay on track and actually stick to your goals. Stay on track with your life, with your goals, with classes if you're a student, with your 2018 resolutions with these simple steps.

How do you do that?

  1. Write these goals down. Write them on sticky notes, write them as to-do lists or as reminders.
  2. Journal. Start journaling, it will help keep you focused. Designate one journal to your journey for your goals. It doesn’t matter if they’re long term or short term goals, just write about your journey.
  3. Watch your thoughts. Having negative thoughts can put a fear in us where we become crippled by fear. These negative thoughts bring us down. It doesn’t matter if you preach positivity, but you better be practicing it too!
  4. Surround yourself with supportive people. You may have some wild dreams and goals, but it shouldn’t hold you back. Find people who will support you, even ifyou’re an optimistic person like I am. You don’t necessarily have to be realistic!
  5. Are you passionate? Ask yourself that question. Are you passionate about the goals you have set for yourself? If you’re passionate about your goals, you won’t let anyone derail you.
  6. Believe in yourself! You got this!

I believe in you! It can get difficult at times to keep yourself motivated or inspired, trust me I know. You can do it though, put your mind to it, stay determined!

Come talk goals & intentions with me over in the Wholeful Soul Sisters tribe!
